Master Bedroom Projects: Part I (Bedside tables)

I've been working on our master bedroom as part of Project Home.  It's always the last room to get attention...so sad.  Especially since it needs to be restful and relaxing.  Usually there are baskets or piles of laundry, an unmade bed, a stack of magazines and more. But it's time for a change! This will be part 1 of a series of posts revealing the work that has gone into the room.

These old sewing machine cabinets were purchased at yard sales. The machines were already removed.  I painted them each the same shade of light blue and stapled fabric to the underside to create hidden storage.  Now there's a place to hide those laundry baskets!  I still have plans to get another handle to attach to the front of the plain one.

Drum roll please.........

So, what do you think?  It was a much needed improvement for those two little neglected tables!  And you can't beat the cost!  The tables were $2 and $3 at yard sales.  The paint was leftover from painting the trim and walls (I just mixed up the light blue) and the fabric was gifted from my Mom! These little cuties add a punch of character to an otherwise plain box of a room.  Stay tuned for more before and afters this week...including the dresser that still doesn't have a home!

BTW, I'm entering this easy project in the Before and After Party over at Thrifty Decor Chick and Get Your Craft On!

I love them! Have you thought about putting a fake handle or knob on the one table? Just a thought. I love the fabric idea.

Cheryl, thanks for stopping by Natural Nester! You read my mind about the handle on the other one. I just haven't had a chance to shop for one yet. :)
